Summary

Quarterback Rank: #100
Overall: #570

Brunell attempted three passes as the top backup for the Jets. He has attempted 30 or fewer passes three seasons in a reserve role for various teams. Even at age 41, Brunell continues to try to hold on as an NFL backup. He can be a competent backup, but his days of posting big numbers and carrying an offense are over.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
Brunell proved the last few seasons he has very little value even if pressed into a starting role. He probably should just hang it up but continues to play - likely because of financial reasons.

Notes

Free-agent QB Mark Brunell (Jets) said he has no plans to retire this season and is hoping to sign with a team before training camps begin.
Fantasy Impact: We doubt he finds a team to sign with.

New York Jets S Jim Leonhard and QB Mark Brunell both said Friday, Dec. 30, that they would like to return to the team for the 2012 season. 'I'm 100 percent confident that I'm going to be playing football somewhere next year. Obviously with the history here, you'd like it to be here, but you never know. You can't say one way or the other at this point,' Leonhard said.

New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez (neck) is not happy over head coach Rex Ryan's decision to give a few first-team reps in practice to QB Mark Brunell. Sanchez clearly was not amused as he spoke to reporters in the locker room Tuesday, Nov. 22. 'That's the coach's decision,' Sanchez said. 'I'm just controlling what I can, and that's trying to improve, make better decisions with the football and taking the reps I have and doing well with them.' Sanchez apparently is angry enough about it that he's giving Ryan the silent treatment. 'For real. He has not said one word (to me),' Ryan said. 'He probably knows what I'm doing. I know Mark Sanchez extremely well ... If it takes me to do this, and take a punch in the nose, I don't care. I'll take it. But we got to have it from him. He's the guy. He's my guy. And we have to have it from him.'
Fantasy Impact: You can't blame him for being upset, but what does Sanchez expect with his play of late.

New York Jets QB Mark Brunell saw some first-team repetitions in practice Tuesday, Nov. 22, head coach Rex Ryan's way of trying to motivate QB Mark Sanchez. Brunell took four of 30 first-team reps after taking two Monday, Nov. 21. 'We do have to have guys prepared,' Ryan said. 'Mark's played well, but do I want to get the one guy (Brunell) a snap? Absolutely. I think it does send a message that, 'hey, every single player - no matter how good - Darrelle Revis doesn't take every snap in practice a lot of times.'
Fantasy Impact: Sanchez isn't getting benched for Brunell but he could have a shorter leash going forward.
