Kerley had a fairly productive rookie season, serving as the No. 4 receiver much of the year. He caught 29 passes for 314 yards. He had two games with more than 70 yards but didn't have any more games with 50-plus yards. Kerley was more of a possession receiver than anything for the Jets. He could move up the depth chart some this season and serve as the No. 3. He is a good fit for the slot. Kerley isn't a big target, but a small playmaker that does well in space. He does need to shore up his route running but does well on short routes and has a knack for getting open. He'll make plays in space.

FANTASY OUTLOOK

Kerley can improve some on last season but don't expect huge numbers. He can help in PPR leagues more than anything. He could get 40 to 50 receptions for 500 yards with a few scores.

New York Jets WR Jeremy Kerley (back) wants to win the No. 2 wide receiver job in offensive coordinator Tony Sparano's offense, and he feels he is in the mix. 'I feel like I'm in the running, whether I get it or not that'll be up to the coaches,' Kerley said. 'I'm not too worried about it, I hope I get it, who wouldn't want to be the No. 2 receiver? But No. 3 is alright too. No. 3 catches the ball just as much.' Kerley said he is recovered from a back issue which caused him to miss offseason workouts in Florida with QB Mark Sanchez and WR Santonio Holmes.

Fantasy Impact: Kerley could play a much bigger role this season but it would be a bit of a surprise to see him in a starting role.

Fantasy Impact: Kerley could play a bigger role in the offense next season. He made some plays late in the year when given the chance. He has some talent.

New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez said Tuesday, Oct. 25, that the team is happy with WR Jeremy Kerley, although he wouldn't touch on the debate between Kerley and the departed WR Derrick Mason (Texans). 'I don't know, they're different players at different stages of their career,' Sanchez said. 'But we're happy with what we see in Kerley. He's explosive, he's excited and you should see that guy light up when he gets on the field. We had pretty good chemistry so far and we just need to work it.'
