Summary

Quarterback Rank: #39
Overall: #217

Skelton started pretty much the entire second half of the season. And he had his ups and downs in a starting role but played well down the stretch. He had seven touchdowns the last four games and threw for at least 271 yards in every one of those games. Skelton did have more interceptions (14) than touchdowns (11) for the season, though. He was erratic at times, completing just 55 percent of his passes. Skelton has proved he can start in this league and be effective but needs to improve his consistency if he hopes to be a full-time starter from day one. He is likely headed to backup duty once again. Skelton has great size and strength, and a rocket for an arm. Skelton also can make plays with his feet despite his size. He still needs a lot of work reading defenses and making accurate throws but has improved some in that area since his rookie season.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
Skelton isn't going to be the starter to open the season so he has limited value for fantasy teams. But if he gets in some games once again, Skelton is worth a look for fantasy teams. He seems to have a knack for the big game.

Notes

Arizona Cardinals QB John Skelton (knee) will not need surgery on his injured knee and said doctors told him that rest should heal the injury. Skelton needed fluid drained out of his knee before the team's Week 17 game because of a problem with the bursa sac in his knee.

Arizona Cardinals QB John Skelton (knee) had his knee drained before the Week 17 game against the Seattle Seahawks. He was reportedly light-headed and fainted after the procedure, but was still able to recover and play. He went 22 of 40 for 271 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Week 17 against the Seattle Seahawks.

Arizona Cardinals QB John Skelton went 23-for-44 for 297 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 16.
Fantasy Impact: Skelton really struggled early but made some plays late and finished with pretty good numbers.

Kevin Kolb is out for Week 16, making Skleton the starter at quarterback once again.
Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald has been impressed with QB John Skelton's poise and ability to lead the offense in crunch time. '(Tim) Tebow gets all the love. Skelton gets no love. John has done a terrific job. He finds a way to get it done,' Fitzgerald said. 'In the huddle, it's like sitting in there like a two-time Super Bowl champion. He shows no emotion. He spits the play out like he's been doing it forever.'
Fantasy Impact: This is a strong endorsement but doesn't guaranteed Skelton will remain the starter going forward.
Arizona Cardinals QB John Skelton completed 28 of 46 passes for 313 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the Week 15 overtime win against the Cleveland Browns. Skelton also ran twice for seven yards. Skelton has made five starts, and he improved to 4-1. Skelton also led the team to a win in Week 14 as an injury replacement.
Fantasy Impact: Skelton just keeps winning games for the Cardinals. He has really played well in several showings. It will be interesting to see if the Cardinals stick with him even when Kevin Kolb gets healthy.

Arizona Cardinals QB John Skelton came on for the injured QB Kevin Kolb (head) in Week 14 against the San Francisco 49ers, and he completed 19 of 28 passes for 282 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. Skelton also carried six times for 25 yards, and he lost a fumble.
Fantasy Impact: Skelton really played well against a good defense. He has been erratic in a starting role but played very well at times.

Arizona Cardinals QB John Skelton went 12-for-23 for 114 yards and two interceptions against the St. Louis Rams in Week 12.
Fantasy Impact: Skelton had another poor showing. They will do all then can to get Kevin Kolb back in the lineup for Week 13.

Arizona Cardinals QB John Skelton completed just six of his 19 pass attempts in Week 11 for 99 yards, no touchdowns and three interceptions in Week 11 against the San Francisco 49ers. QB Richard Bartel came on and completed 8 of 16 for 64 yards and his first NFL touchdown. There was a lot of speculation by fans on whether Skelton or QB Kevin Kolb (toe, foot) would start when the latter was healthy, but now the answer is rather obvious.
Arizona Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt didn't dismiss the idea of QB John Skelton taking over as permanent starter after he tossed three touchdowns in a second straight win in Week 10 against the Philadelphia Eagles in place of the injured QB Kevin Kolb (toe, foot). 'I'm just doing to enjoy this and worry about that later,' Whisenhunt said Sunday, Nov. 13.
Fantasy Impact: Skelton is playing well and gaining confidence. It wouldn't be a surprise to see the Cardinals stick with him - for now.
