Pitta did well as the top backup in Baltimore last season, finishing with much better stats than his rookie season. He caught 40 passes for 405 yards, catching at least a pass in all but three games. Pitta had multiple receptions 11 times. He should play a similar role for the Ravens this season. Pitta isn't much of a blocker, serving more as a pass-first tight end. He is athletic enough to line up as a receiver, making him a tough cover for opposing defenses.

FANTASY OUTLOOK

He took a big step forward last season and proved he is capable of some big games. But with that said, Pitta probably was close to his ceiling last year. He might push those numbers up a little but don't expect much more. He might get 500 yards and five scores.

Baltimore Ravens TE Dennis Pitta caught five passes for 46 yards in Week 9 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and all five receptions came on third down to move the chains. 'Dennis is great,' QB Joe Flacco said Monday, Nov. 7. 'Both those young tight ends (Pitta and TE Ed Dickson) are going to be a huge asset for us.'

Fantasy Impact: Pitta is starting to come on in the offense some but still isn't much of a fantasy option at this point.

Baltimore Ravens TE Dennis Pitta (concussion) is uncertain for Week 17, reports Aaron Wilson, of the Carroll County Times. Pitta suffered his second concussion of the season in Week 16. 'The thing we've learned to do with concussions is to assume that they're out until they're back,' head coach John Harbaugh said Tuesday, Dec. 28. It's unclear when Pitta will be medically cleared.
