Summary

Quarterback Rank: #40
Overall: #218

McCoy had his struggles his second year in the league. He had his season cut short because of a concussion but was a little erratic before getting injured. He had just 14 touchdowns to 11 interceptions. McCoy did complete 58 percent of his passes but threw for fewer than 200 yards five of 13 games. He had four multiple touchdown games but failed to have single three-touchdown performance. But in fairness to McCoy, he had few playmakers to work with at receiver, which limited his potential in the offense. McCoy won't be handed the starter's job this season but it is his to lose. McCoy seems a good fit for the Browns West Coast offense. He is an accurate quarterback with a quick release. McCoy struggles on his deep throws more than anything, which aren't utilized a ton in this offense. McCoy also moves around the pocket well and can make plays with his feet, rushing for 348 yards in two seasons.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
McCoy isn't likely to post huge numbers in this system, especially with limited options in the passing game. He does play in a pass-happy offense that will give him chances, though, so he has some big-game potential on occasion. He'll be worth some spot starts in the right matchup. A season with 3,000 yards and 20 touchdowns seems realistic for McCoy, making him a mediocre No. 2 for fantasy teams.

Notes

Cleveland Browns president Mike Holmgren said he still believes in QB Colt McCoy but also wanted to add competition in the form of QB Brandon Weeden. 'I like him a lot,' Holmgren said of McCoy. 'He's tough, but (we) still wanted to see if someone else could be the man.'
Fantasy Impact: Sure he believes in him.

Cleveland Browns QB Colt McCoy, who is still a member of the team for now, is back home in Texas, and plans to return to Cleveland Monday, April 30, to continue the team's offseason program. He completed four days of workouts Thursday, April 26. Head coach Pat Shurmur said he spoke with McCoy Friday, April 27. 'I think there's really no story there right now,' Shurmur said. 'We drafted a quarterback to come in and compete with (McCoy) at this point, and that's where it's at.'
Fantasy Impact: At this point, it sure looks like McCoy is out of a starting job.

Cleveland Browns general manager Tom Heckert said the team will discuss whether or not to trade QB Colt McCoy.

Cleveland Browns rookie QB Brandon Weeden said he plans to come in and compete for playing time. 'That's just my nature. I want to come in and give it all I have to be the best player I can,' Weeden said. General manager Tom Heckert said he expects players taken in the first round to play as rookies. Weeden will have to unseat QB Colt McCoy from the starting lineup. 'Eventually he's gonna be a starter for us. That's why we drafted him,' Heckert said.
Fantasy Impact: We wouldn't be surprise to see Weeden win the starting job. McCoy has shown little since entering the league.

After failing to move up in the NFL Draft for a chance at Baylor QB Robert Griffin III, the Cleveland Browns' entire focus now shifts to building around QB Colt McCoy in 2012. However, Cleveland might consider positioning themselves for a 2013 run at Southern California QB Matt Barkley.

Cleveland Browns QB Colt McCoy will likely receive another opportunity to start in 2012 after the team failed to move up to the No. 2 overall slot in April's NFL Draft. Baylor QB Robert Griffin III would probably have been Cleveland's target had they moved up. The team could still select a quarterback in the draft; however, they will likely provide more weapons for McCoy.
