Summary

Running Back Rank: #59
Overall: #264

Scott got the most work of his career but he struggled to break many big plays, averaging just 3.4 yards per carry - the lowest total of his career. He topped 100 carries for the first time and ran for a career-high 380 yards. Scott had double-digit carries three times but topped 50 yards just once. He did set a career high in receptions but caught just 13 passes. Scott hasn't been much of a factor in the passing game throughout his career, catching just 29 passes in three years. In three seasons, Scott averages 333-rushing yards per season. Although the Bengals claim to want to get Scott more involved in the running game this season, expect a similar role to this past season. He'll get some carries but more so in that seven per game range. Scott isn't a big back, but has electric speed and great moves in space. He has the makeup to be a top change-of-pace back.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
It wouldn't surprise to see him set career highs in yardage once again in a little bigger role but his numbers should be around 600 total yards with a few scores. He really isn't much of a fantasy factor, especially since he isn't involved in the passing game much despite looking the part of a top third-down back. Scott is a worth a reserve running back pick as a low-end No. 3 or No. 4 fantasy back.

Notes

The Cincinnati Bengals are expected to look for a starting running back either through free agency or the 2012 NFL Draft because the team does not trust RB Bernard Scott with a starter's workload.

Cincinnati Bengals RB Bernard Scott carried 22 times for 76 yards in Week 8 against the Seattle Seahawks. He made the start with RB Cedric Benson suspended for one game by the NFL. He also had three receptions for zero yards.
Fantasy Impact: Scott did pretty well in a starting role. He produced some with his chances. Benson will return to the starting role their next time out, though.

Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden wants to see RB Bernard Scott, who is expected to start in Week 8 in place of the suspended RB Cedric Benson, post a long run. The Bengals are last in the NFL with just two runs of at least 15 yards this season, and the team has just one run of 28 or more yards, which happened back in Week 1.
Fantasy Impact: Scott has some upside in a starting role but don't expect huge numbers.
Cincinnati Bengals RB Bernard Scott will receive the start against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 8 with RB Cedric Benson serving his one-game suspension. Scott has 30 rushes for 85 yards and a touchdown this year.
Fantasy Impact: Scott is worth a look as a flex option in this role but don't expect big numbers in a really tough matchup.

Cincinnati Bengals RB Bernard Scott is in favor of offensive coordinator Jay Gruden's new ground attack; he rushed for 63 yards on six carries in his debut last week. 'When you see it, you hit it. You don't have to do too much reading. You can just go out there and play off your natural instincts,' Scott said. 'The last offense it was like you had two or three different keys you needed to read. To me, I could just never let it loose. I was reading and trying to play perfect instead of just playing football.'
Fantasy Impact: The offense seems a good fit for Scott, who should get a little more work this season. We wouldn't count on a ton more touches, though.

Cincinnati Bengals RB Bernard Scott (hamstring) didn't show any problems with his previous hamstring injury during the team's preaseason game Thursday, Aug. 25, but he said following the game that he still is not 100 percent healthy. Scott rushed for 63 yards on six carries, including a 12-yard touchdown run. 'He ran a power play on his touchdown and there's an unblocked guy standing right in front of him. He just cut it. The guy wouldn't have even pulled his flag in flag football; that's how quick it was,' said offensive coordinator Jay Gruden.

Cincinnati Bengals RB Bernard Scott rushed six times for 63 yards and a touchdown against the Carolina Panthers in preseason action Thursday, Aug. 25. He saw all of his action in the second quarter and scored on a 16-yard run.
Fantasy Impact: Scott had a huge game. He should get more work in the offense this year, especially with the Bengals looking for playmakers on the offensive side of the ball.
