SUMMARY
Wide Receiver Rank: #110
Overall: #302

Heyward-Bey nearly had his first 1,000-yard season as a pro, finishing just 25 yards shy of the mark. He had some big showings throughout the season, breaking the 100-yard mark three times. Heyward-Bey was far from consistent, though, going without a catch twice and having fewer than 50 yards five other times. His big games accounted for his solid overall numbers but he still lacked consistency. He won't be handed anything going forward. Heyward-Bey will get a chance to start for the Raiders but will need to perform well in camp and preseason action. Heyward-Bey remains a bit unpolished. His route running isn't the best and drops continue to plague him. He remains a great straight-line runner, though, making him an exciting deep threat. He needs to continue to improve his consistency to be a full-time starter in this league.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
Heyward-Bey showed his potential last season but wasn't a consistent factor for fantasy teams. He can have a similar year, though, with Carson Palmer around for a full season in Oakland. Heyward-Bey can get 900 or so yards and five touchdowns, making him worth a look as a fantasy reserve come draft day.
Oakland Raiders WR Darrius Heyward-Bey was apologetic in a message to fans regarding his recent drunk-driving arrest. 'I just kind of regret bringing bad attention to the team, for the most part,' Heyward-Bey said. 'Want to let the fans know that I'm here, working hard, trying to get on the same page with (QB Carson Palmer) and looking forward to the season.' Heyward-Bey's agent said his client will plead not guilty.

Oakland Raiders WR Darrius Heyward-Bey was arrested April 7, and has been charged with driving under the influence based on the arrest. The Raiders are aware of the situation and will continue to gather information. He was very cooperative when he was pulled over but failed a sobriety test.
Fantasy Impact: Not good. We'll keep you posted.

The Oakland Raiders are hoping WR Darrius Heyward-Bey, WR Denarius Moore or WR Jacoby Ford can emerge as a No. 1 wide receiver for the team this season.

Oakland Raiders WR Darrius Heyward-Bey had a game-high nine receptions for 130 yards and a touchdown in Week 17 against the San Diego Chargers. Heyward-Bey finished just 25 yards short of his first 1,000-yard season. He had three touchdowns over his final five games, giving him four scores this season, and six for his career.

Oakland Raiders WR Darrius Heyward-Bey caught four passes for 70 yards against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 16.
Fantasy Impact: Heyward-Bey continues to play consistently down the stretch, becoming the top option in the passing game.

Oakland Raiders WR Darrius Heyward-Bey has 51 receptions, 775 yards and three touchdowns this season and would be the first wide receiver to lead the team in receptions and receiving yards since 2007. He also has decreased his dropped passes and caught more passes thrown to him.

Oakland Raiders head coach Hue Jackson said Monday, Dec. 19, that WR Darrius Heyward-Bey has the makings to be a star despite some inconsistency. 'What we're going to see is a guy who is a star,' Jackson said. 'I keep talking about the plays you have to make and he made some spectacular plays but again there are a couple of plays he wishes he had back too which would have changed the whole dynamics of the game.'
Fantasy Impact: He is a talented player but still lacks some consistency. He has been better this season, though.

Oakland Raiders WR Darrius Heyward-Bey had eight receptions for a career-high 155 yards and a touchdown in the Week 15 game against the Detroit Lions. It was just the second 100-yard game of the season for Heyward-Bey, and the first since Week 4.
Fantasy Impact: He has really had some big games this season but hasn't been too consistent. We aren't sure he builds on this.
