SUMMARY
Running Back Rank: #83
Overall: #362

Slaton played with the Texans and Dolphins last season, ending his year with Miami. He got his most action of the season the last game of the year, rushing 11 times for 55 yards. He had 13 carries until that last game of the year. Slaton played just six games all season. Slaton is a former 1,000-yard back but done next to nothing since that season, which was his rookie year. Slaton has fewer than 100-rushing yards each of the last two years. At this stage of his career, he is a third-down back more than anything. He remains a good pass catcher out of the backfield. Slaton still has decent speed and some big-play ability. He isn't a great inside runner and seems to lack the size to be an every-down back. He challenge for a reserve role this coming season.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
Slaton probably isn't even worth drafting. He is young enough (26) to jumpstart his career, but that scenario seems unlikely. His best season was his rookie year. He won't top that again.
With the Miami Dolphins selecting rookie RB Lamar Miller in the fourth round of the NFL Draft, RB Steve Slaton may no longer be in the team's plans. Slaton was re-signed to a one-year deal earlier this year.

Miami Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin said RB Steve Slaton was re-signed because he believes Slaton will benefit from the team's zone blocking scheme.

Miami Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin said Wednesday, March 28, that RB Steve Slaton is a good fit for the team's system. 'I think (Steve) had some very good production in the league. He's a guy we think fits our system of running the football very, very well,' Philbin said.

RB Steve Slaton's return to the Miami Dolphins gives them some insurance in the backfield because Slaton is comparable to RB Reggie Bush, who has been injured often during his NFL career.
Fantasy Impact: Slaton won't get many chances as the No. 3 back in this offense.
The Miami Dolphins have re-signed free-agent RB Steve Slaton to a one-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Fantasy Impact: He'll likely be the No. 3 back once again this season.

Miami Dolphins RB Steve Slaton made his team debut in Week 4 against the San Diego Chargers, but he had just one run for two yards and one reception for minus-2 yards.
Fantasy Impact: Slaton could play a bigger role in a few weeks. Don't expect much now, though.

Miami Dolphins RB Steve Slaton said he has picked up the offense well since joining the team. Slaton could see playing time in Week 4 because of the injury for RB Daniel Thomas (hamstring).

Miami Dolphins RB Steve Slaton is expected to see some playing time in Week 4 with RB Daniel Thomas (hamstring) nursing a hamstring injury. 'I'm prepared to get reps,' Slaton said. 'I'm studying as hard as I can, and I just have to try to remember as much as I can for the first weekend.'
Fantasy Impact: We wouldn't count on much, making him a reach for fantasy teams.

Miami Dolphins RB Daniel Thomas (hamstring) was not participating during practice Friday, Sept. 30. If he is not able to play in Week 4, RB Steve Slaton could receive some playing time.
Fantasy Impact: Reggie Bush is the back to use in Miami this week if Thomas misses the game.
