Thigpen was the top backup in Buffalo, attempting eight passes in three games. He got little work after attempting 62 passes the previous season in Miami, his second highest total of his career. Thigpen stormed onto the scene with the Chiefs in 2008, getting a chance to start in their new spread offense. Thigpen played well, scoring 21 total touchdowns to 12 interceptions. But he hasn't done much since then. He is a decent backup, though, because he has started some games and is capable of the big game. Thigpen has a pro arm, but needs to improve his accuracy and decision making. He is good on his feet and can make throws on the run. His 54 percent career completion percentage is a concern.

FANTASY OUTLOOK

Thigpen might be worth a look if he happens to get some playing time. He has produced big numbers at times and has a knack for finding the end zone. He will turn the ball over a little more than you would like, though.

Buffalo Bills head coach Chan Gailey said he told QB Tyler Thigpen before he signed with the team that QB Ryan Fitzpatrick is the starting quarterback and that Thigpen would not have any opportunity to compete for the starting job this season.

Buffalo Bills QB Tyler Thigpen feels his time with the Miami Dolphins helped him develop as a quarterback. Thigpen said the coaching staff there did a good job helping him with the fundamentals, and he was able to learn a lot on the mental side of the game from QBs Chad Pennington and Chad Henne. He noted being able to learn how those two QBs study game film and prepare for each week was a big positive for him.

The Buffalo Bills have agreed to a three-year deal with free-agent QB Tyler Thigpen (Dolphins). Financial terms were not disclosed. Six teams were believed to be interested in Thigpen.
