Barber missed some time because of injury but performed alright with his chances when on the field. He served his role well with his new team, the Bears. Barber got plenty of goal-line chances and managed to score six touchdowns in 11 games. His rushing total (422) was the second lowest of his career, though. And Barber did little to shed his injury prone label, which should hurt his chances for extensive playing time going forward. He remains a backup and short-yardage option. Barber has never rushed for 1,000 yards in a season but does have double-digit touchdowns twice. Barber runs with a lot power and also has decent moves in the open field for a man of his size. And he is a better than average receiver, having 179 receptions in seven seasons.

FANTASY OUTLOOK

Barber announced his retirement this offseason. He is done. He is young enough to make a comeback but don't count on it. He showed big-time signs of slowing down last season.

Chicago Bears RB Marion Barber III has decided to retire from professional football.

Fantasy Impact: This isn't a huge surprise as Barber has taken a beating over the years and really seemed to slip last season.

The Chicago Bears could consider releasing RB Marion Barber III because he is scheduled to make $1.9 million next season.

Fantasy Impact: He didn't play too bad in a reserve role so we wouldn't rule out a come back.
