SUMMARY
Quarterback Rank: #38
Overall: #216

Orton began the season as starter for the Broncos and ended the year as the starter for the Chiefs. He was benched in favor of Tim Tebow in Denver getting traded to the Chiefs. Orton wasn't playing too badly with the Broncos before getting benched. He had multiple touchdown games three of his first four with Denver. He did have six interceptions during that stretch, though, turning the ball over too frequently. Orton got another chance to start late in the season with the Chiefs and played better than earlier in the year. Orton threw for 299 or more yards two of three games with the Chiefs. He averaged 8.03 yards per completion with the Chiefs, which was a career high. Orton is just 29 years old so his best years aren't behind him. He can be an effective starter in this league. Orton doesn't have a great arm, but gets rid of the ball quickly and does a good job of hitting his receivers in stride. Orton doesn't throw a great deep ball, but has improved on that some through the year. Although Orton doesn't wow you with his ability, he seems to have a knack for making big plays. He can be a little turnover prone, though, having 57 interceptions to 80 touchdown passes for his career.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
Orton is capable of that big game. He isn't flashy but can help fantasy teams when in a starting role. His numbers aren't elite but when starting for a full season, he can get you 20 scores and around 3,500-passing yards, making him worth some spot starts.
Updating a previous report, the Dallas Cowboys have signed QB Kyle Orton to a three-year deal worth $10.5 million.

The Dallas Cowboys have agreed to terms with free-agent QB Kyle Orton (Chiefs) on a three-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Fantasy Impact: This is a good signing for the Cowboys, having great insurance for Tony Romo. It is a bit of a surprise to see Orton not try to find a chance to start once again, though.

The Chicago Bears may show interest in Kansas City Chiefs impending free-agent QB Kyle Orton to be their backup quarterback if he is not able to find a starting quarterback job.

Kansas City Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli said Friday, Feb. 24, that the team might be interested in bringing back impending free-agent QB Kyle Orton. 'We've talked to Kyle's people. It sounds like Kyle would like to be with us,' Pioli said. 'We've told Kyle we'd like to continue to work with him. Now it's just a matter of seeing if things arrive at the right place. It's not always whether we want a player or the player wants to be here. Things have to work out (contractually).'

The Washington Redskins could show interest in Kansas City Chiefs impending free-agent QB Kyle Orton this offseason.
Fantasy Impact: Orton could be a good short-term fix for the Redskins.

Kansas City Chiefs QB Kyle Orton completed 15 of 29 passes for 180 yards in Week 17 against the Denver Broncos, his former team. He was able to lead his team to a 7-3 win, but it wasn't enough to knock the Broncos from the playoffs.

Kansas City Chiefs QB Kyle Orton has started with preparations for the Week 17 game against the Denver Broncos, and a win by his new team can help eliminate his old team from the playoffs. 'The only guys I'm trying to prove something to are my teammates,' Orton said Wednesday, Dec. 28. 'I really don't worry about anyone else.'

Kansas City Chiefs QB Kyle Orton went 21-for-36 for 300 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions against the Oakland Raiders in Week 16.
Fantasy Impact: Orton continues to bring life to the Chiefs' offense but wasn't quite as sharp as his first game with the team.

Kansas City Chiefs QB Kyle Orton led the team to a win in Week 15 over the previously unbeaten Green Bay Packers, making the organization's decision on what to do at the position that much more difficult. 'If we win these next two games with him, and he continues to play the way he did today, then you might have to say that (Orton is the future),' interim head coach Romeo Crennel said Sunday, Dec. 18. Orton is a free agent after this season and QB Matt Cassel would be heading into the fourth season of a $63 million contract. The team could also sign someone from outside the organization, or draft a high-profile QB, but Orton is trying to make the decision a little more difficult.
Fantasy Impact: Orton is probably the better option than Cassel but the Chiefs have a lot more invested in Cassel right now. We aren't sure what they'll do going forward.
