Clayton caught three passes in two games last season before getting released by the Rams. He did not look full strength in his recovery from major knee surgery. Until he shows he can run near his past level, Clayton will have a hard time getting on the field. He is 31 years old so Clayton has some time to get it going again but this is likely a make or break season for him. Clayton has topped 50 receptions just once for his career and has never reached the 1,000-yard mark. Clayton isn't a flashy receiver, but has above-average speed and decent hands. Consistency has plagued him through the years.

FANTASY OUTLOOK

Clayton might have a hard time just making an NFL roster. Don't bother with him unless he starts doing something on the field. At that point, he might be worth a waiver-wire grab.

The St. Louis Rams have placed WR Mark Clayton (knee) on Injured Reserve, ending his 2011 season. In a corresponding move, the team re-signed free-agent WR Nick Miller.

Fantasy Impact: His knees just won't hold up. He is going to have a hard time finding work in 2012.

'I'm ready to play,' Clayton said. 'The coaches understand the situation. I don't know the extent or the where or the when, but I'm ready.'

Fantasy Impact: It would be a mild surprise if Clayton wasn't active for the game this week but nothing is certain right now.
