SUMMARY
Tight End Rank: #90
Overall: #589

Heller saw a big dip in production last season, catching four passes after having 29 receptions in 2009. But Heller had a lot of competition at tight end, making him third on the depth chart. Things aren't likely to change this season for Heller. He has double-digit receptions three times in eight seasons. Heller remains more of a blocking tight end. He should continue to play a reserve role, getting a few chances in the passing game.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
Heller reached his peak a few years back. He isn't likely to return to that status in the near future. He'll be fortunate to have double-digit receptions, giving him next to no value for fantasy teams.
The Detroit Lions have signed free-agent TE Will Heller (Lions) and DE Everette Brown (Chargers) to one-year deals. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Detroit Lions TE Will Heller had one reception, a 10-yard touchdown grab, in the Wild Card loss Saturday, Jan. 7, against the New Orleans Saints. Heller did not have a touchdown during the regular season.
Fantasy Impact: Don't expect a repeat performance going forward.

Detroit Lions TE Tony Scheffler managed two receptions for 41 yards in Week 13 against the New Orleans Saints, while TE Brandon Pettigrew managed two catches for just 13 yards. Third-stringer TE Will Heller chipped in with one catch for 10 yards.
Fantasy Impact: Pettigrew is the tight end to use in Detroit but he is only a marginal option.

Detroit Lions TE Will Heller could handle the duties normally reserved for fullbacks, with the release of FB Jerome Felton. Felton is versatile and considered a good pass blocker.

Since the Detroit Lions are using so many two-tight-end sets, the team may keep four tight ends on their final roster, reports Chris McCosky, of The Detroit News. TEs Brandon Pettigrew, Tony Scheffler, Will Heller and Dan Gronkowski may all make the final cut.

Updating a previous report, the Detroit Lions have announced they have re-signed unrestricted free-agent TE Will Heller to a three-year contract. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Nicholas J. Cotsonika, of the Detroit Free Press, reports the Detroit Lions have re-signed unrestricted free-agent TE Will Heller. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Tom Kowalski, of MLive.com, reports Detroit Lions TE Casey FitzSimmons will have to compete for a roster spot during training camp but likely will win a roster spot. He probably would not see much playing time because the team likely will use TEs Brandon Pettigrew and Will Heller in two tight end formations.
