McGahee didn't have quite a career season but was close. He hit the 1,000-yard mark for the first time since 2007. He had fewer than 700-rushing yards each of the previous three seasons. McGahee grabbed hold of the starter's job early in the year, though, and never let go. He got plenty of work in the Broncos new run-heavy offense. McGahee had seven 100-yard games and averaged an impressive 4.8 yards per carry, the second highest total of his career. McGahee was a consistent factor in the offense all season long. McGahee has four 1,000-yard seasons in eight years. He does turn 31 shortly after the season starts, but doesn't have a ton of carries under his belt. He has topped 300-plus carries just once and had less than 175 carries the previous three seasons. So he might have a little more life to his legs than a typical 30 year old. McGahee is a powerful back with plus-speed and the ability to make a big play on the outside. He also is a decent receiver, catching 22 or more passes four of eight seasons. He should remain the No. 1 back for the Broncos this season.

FANTASY OUTLOOK

His lack of scores last year hurt his fantasy value but his yardage totals were better than average. He might be hard pressed to match last season's yardage numbers but his touchdowns could increase as the Broncos' offense should be better. McGahee can get around 1,000 total yards and eight touchdowns, making him a solid No. 2 back for fantasy teams.

Denver Broncos RB Willis McGahee said via Twitter Sunday, March 4, that he intended to remain a Bronco for the rest of his career and that, 'I don't understand how you can write an article about a person without confirming if it's true about him/her.' McGahee's comments were in response to a report stating he wanted to renegotiate his contract.

Denver Broncos RB Willis McGahee wants to renegotiate his contract because he believes his performance this season should result in a more lucrative contract but the team has told McGahee they will not renegotiate his deal after only one season. He is scheduled to make $2 million next season but is not expected to hold out.

Fantasy Impact: McGahee also is nearing the end at age 31 so you can't blame him for trying to get a better deal.

Denver Broncos RB Willis McGahee became the first 30-years-or-older running back since former NFL RB Fred Taylor in 2007 to surpass 1,000 yards and average more than 4.7 yards per carry in a season.

Fantasy Impact: His age is a concern going forward but he showed last season he still has plenty left in the tank.

Fantasy Impact: Makes sense with McGahee getting up there in age.

Denver Broncos RB Willis McGahee carried 17 times for 76 yards and a touchdown in the Divisional Round playoff game loss Saturday, Jan. 14, against the New England Patriots. McGahee finished the postseason with 36 carries for 137 yards and a score in two playoff games.

Fantasy Impact: It was a good showing for McGahee, capping off a big year for him. He is likely to remain the starter in 2012.

Denver Broncos RB Willis McGahee carried 19 times for 61 yards in the Wild Card game against the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday, Jan. 8. He also fumbled twice, losing it once, but the team was able to rebound and win in overtime.

Fantasy Impact: McGahee didn't have a great game but produced some with his chances. The lost fumble was almost a killer for the Broncos, though.

Denver Broncos RB Willis McGahee (knee) had 28 carries for a game-high 145 yards in Week 17 against the Kansas City Chiefs. The 145 rushing yards his most since Week 9 when he gouged the Oakland Raiders for a season-high 163 yards. McGahee finished with seven 100-yard rushing games on the season.
