Gaffney had his best season as a pro last year, setting career highs in receptions and yards while tying a career high in touchdowns. He nearly had his first 1,000-yard season as a pro (947). He also had an impressive 68 receptions, catching at least three passes in all but two games. Gaffney was the most consistent receiver for the Redskins. He has two straight seasons with 60-plus receptions. Gaffney does have just four of 10 seasons with 500-plus yards but is over 870 yards each of the last two years. He is 31 years old and still in fine shape at this point of his career. Gaffney is a speedy receiver with good hands. He does a good job of finding room in tight spaces, making him a solid possession receiver and good fit for the slot. He heads back to New England this season where he'll compete for playing time with a host of options at receiver.

FANTASY OUTLOOK

Gaffney isn't a flashy fantasy option but a consistent bet for fantasy teams, especially in PPR formats. He should get 40-plus receptions for around 600 yards and a few scores. He is worth a draft spot in most formats but a dip in production hurts his value some. He won't be quite as consistent for the Patriots, a team he'll have many options to compete with for targets.

The New England Patriots have agreed to terms with free-agent WR Jabar Gaffney (Redskins) on a two-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Fantasy Impact: He has a lot of competition for playing time in New England but obvious upside in a great offense.

Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said there is a chance WR Jabar Gaffney remains with the team this season. Shanahan said he has given Gaffney the chance to pursue a trade since the team added two wide receivers in free agency.

Fantasy Impact: His value would go up with a trade.

Fantasy Impact: Gaffney had his best season to date last year and has been playing well the last few years. He would do well to land with a new team he could have a bigger role.

Washington Redskins WR Jabar Gaffney had six catches for 77 yards and a touchdown in Week 16 against the Minnesota Vikings. Gaffney is up to 886 receiving yards, which is a new career high. He'll look for his first 1,000-yard campaign in Week 17 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Fantasy Impact: Gaffney has been consistent in a starting role but isn't anything more than a reserve for fantasy teams.

As expected, Washington Redskins WRs Jabar Gaffney and Santana Moss got the most snaps in Week 14 against the New England Patriots. Gaffney played 61 of the team's 74 offensive snaps, while Moss played 60. After that, there is a big dropoff, with WR Donte' Stallworth next with 37 snaps, and then WR Niles Paul with 18. WR Anthony Armstrong played 11, and WR David Anderson managed 10 snaps to round out the corps.

Fantasy Impact: Both Gaffney and Moss has some value as a No. 3 receiver for fantasy teams. They are getting a lot of work and consistent targets.
