Featured Article: Bounce-back Candidates

By Jeff Paur

When I think of bounce-back stories, I think about Robert Downey Jr. for some reason. I know he isn't a football player, but his comeback was strong nonetheless. He was down and out, and pretty much out of the limelight. Now, he is starring in big-time roles and making tons and tons of money. I'm not even a big fan of the guy, but he is a good example of a bounce-back story.

And just like in the movie biz, there are plenty of NFL players that might have been forgotten or failed to live up to expectations. Most of the guys on this list haven't fallen as far as Downey but they are players that didn't live up to expectations last season or the past few years. They are guys some fantasy teams might be down on, but we are here to tell you don't cross these players off your draft boards. They can help fantasy teams and could be good buy-low players for the '11 season.

Larry Fitzgerald, WR, Cardinals. Fitzgerald had horrific quarterback play pretty much all last season, but still managed another 1,000-yard season and 90 receptions. We expect him to play much better in 2011, getting more consistent quarterback play. He might be undervalued after scoring just six touchdowns last season and finishing with his lowest overall numbers in several seasons. But remember, Fitzgerald is just 28 and has plenty of good years left, playing at a high level.

OUTLOOK

The Colts remain a top team in the NFL and will compete for a spot in the Super Bowl. Their defense needs to play a little more consistent but the Colts certainly have the offense to carry them most weeks. They will win a lot of games once again and be a favorite to come out of the AFC.
